Multicultural Markets, BSA

With the recent launch of the new BSA, We are excited to introduce you to one of our new groups. The Multicultural Markets Team (formerly known as Scoutreach) has been developed to address the growing needs of ethnic populations and communities that are underserved or hard to reach.  As the demographics of our nation continue to transition, it is increasingly important that we, as an organization, prepare and position ourselves within these communities in ways that are relevant and strategically sound. This team, along with the materials and insight it provides, will play a critical role in this endeavor as we align our talent and resources for future success.

As we continue to uncover and articulate the commonalities that bind all of us, we realize that they are far greater than any perceived differences regarding one’s culture or geographical location. Therefore, we must view this new team and its goals as a collective organizational opportunity – one which we will all need to understand and support. Through this effort, we will strengthen our movement by providing every eligible youth the opportunity to have a quality Scouting experience.

Finally, as communicated in our long-range strategic plan, our mission has not changed, nor have the principles of Scouting. However, we must adapt our methods to meet the needs of our time. As such, we will continue to provide tactical support to local councils in building their capacity to grow and sustain traditional membership by maximizing national efforts through local collaborations.
